Spotted in Gowanus: Stained Glass Water Tower

Like a rare bird flying among pigeons, a piece of kaleidoscopic art is now brightening a drab industrial corner in Gowanus.

A multi-hued stained glass water tower similar to the one that graces the top of 20 Jay St. in DUMBO showed up recently behind a gray metal fence on the corner of Degraw and Bond streets.

Perhaps it's destined to replace the neighborhood's lost Kentile Floors sign? Maybe it's part of the public art program happening in Gowanus this summer?

Artist Tom Fruin, who created the original DUMBO water tower, couldn't be reached immediately for comment. We'll enjoy it while it's there.
