JACKSON HEIGHTS — A sleeping straphanger woke to find his wallet was cut out of his pants pocket in May — and video footage later captured the thief buying a MetroCard with his credit card, according to the NYPD.

The 28-year-old victim fell asleep on a southbound 7 train at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, near 74th Street, police said.

When he woke up, he found that a pocket of his pants had been cut open and his wallet was gone.

Surveillance video taken after the incident shows the thief buying a MetroCard with the stolen card, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
