A thankful admirer of the fresh coat of paint on the New York State Pavilion's "Tent of Tomorrow" is trying to raise money to buy lunch for the crew working on it for free.
Apprentice painters putting in hours for the International Union of Painting and Allied Trades are repainting the iconic World's Fair structure back to its "American Cheese yellow" color — and the union is donating the estimated $3 million for the paint job.
That's why Edward Newhouse set up an Indiegogo fundraiser to buy the crew lunch for a few days to show his appreciation.
"We are group of people that share our love for this iconic structure that want to thank the workers by raising the full $500, (estimating with a daily crew of 15) we can buy the paint crew two to three days of lunch with water, as a simple way to thank them!" he wrote on the page.
All of the money raised will go toward picking up lunch for the crew, although it's not clear from which local restaurant they'll order.
An email to the organizer was not immediately returned.
