GRAMERCY — An improv team will perform a live "21st century radio play" for people addicted to the true-crime podcast Serial.

People's Improv Theater comedians Niccolo Aeed and Marina Tempelsman have created MURDER!, an 8-episode series of shows that they say provides as many thrills as laughs. The shows spoof the hit podcast Serial, in which an investigative reporter tries to piece together the story of a murder.

"It's really addictive comedy," Aeed said in a press release. "You're going to laugh a lot, but you’ll also be desperate to know what happens next.”

The PIT shows, each of which comprise two "episodes," cost $10 each, or $30 for the full run. They'll have live blues music as well, and the show will be released as a podcast so one-time attendees can keep up.

"TV shows shouldn’t be the only thing that get to be binge watched," PIT spokeswoman Kippy Winston said. "MURDER! corrects this crime."

The show starts on July 13 at the PIT Theater at 123 E. 24th St. The duo will perform each hour-and-a-half long show twice, with the run beginning July 13 and ending July 24.
