CROWN HEIGHTS — A gunman who tried to shoot a pair of brothers as they walked out of their Crown Heights home last weekend was chased down and tackled by the men and their friends and held until police could arrive, sources said.

George Lowers, 32, fired multiple shots at the brothers as they came out of 1252 Union St. between Nostrand and New York avenues at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, according to police sources.

That’s when the brothers, whose names were not released, went after Lowers with the help of two friends nearby, sources said. The group chased Lowers down the street and tackled him to the ground.

Officers arrived and arrested Lowers — who faces more than a dozen charges, including two counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, reckless endangerment and attempted assault, according to court documents.

It's unclear if Lowers knew his victims, or vice versa.

The incident is one of eight shootings in the 71st Precinct so far this year, according to NYPD data through June 19. That’s up from five shootings in the same time period last year.
