PROSPECT HEIGHTS — A man walked into a Vanderbilt Avenue pizza restaurant claiming that he wanted to ask about a job and stole $300 from the cash register, according to a police report.

The thief entered Amorina Cucina Rustica at Vanderbilt Ave and Prospect Place on June 2 around noon while the restaurant was closed, according to the report. An employee let the man inside because he said he wanted to ask about a job, then asked to use the bathroom, the report stated.

While the man was inside the restaurant, he swiped $300 from the cash register and also took the restaurant owner's wallet, according to the report. Representatives for the restaurant could not be reached immediately for comment on Thursday.
