GREENWICH VILLAGE — A woman was followed for two blocks and then into a Greenwich Village supermarket by a man who put his hands up her skirt and groped her before being arrested, police said.

The 24-year-old man bumped into the 58-year-old victim on Sixth Avenue near Waverly Place about 7:20 p.m. on June 5, police said.

He then followed her on Sixth Avenue for two blocks, until the woman ducked into the Citarella at 424 Sixth Ave., police said.

The man, described as 6-foot-2 and 160 pounds, followed her inside and asked the woman if she was married, police said. After she said yes, he put his hands up her skirt and squeezed her butt, police said.

The man was arrested, and an officer found a burnt marijuana cigarette in his sweatshirt pocket, police said.

He was arraigned on charges of forcible touching, sexual abuse in the third degree and stalking in the fourth degree — all misdemeanors — plus two violations for unlawful possession of marijuana and harassment in the second degree for following a person.

The Manhattan District Attorney requested he be held on $1,000 bail, but the judge released him. He is due back in court on July 10.
