QUEENS — A man with a warrant for reckless driving drove his minivan carrying a 6-year-old boy into a Port Authority officer who was writing him a ticket at LaGuardia Airport Monday, police said.

Erick Sanchez, 24, had parked his 2014 Dodge Caravan in the middle roadway outside Terminal B at the airport about 12:30 p.m., a Port Authority Police spokesman said.

Port Authority Police officer Daniel Rios started writing him a ticket for stopping in a "no standing" zone, but Sanchez put the minivan into drive, turned toward Rios and pressed the gas, hitting Rios' left leg, police said.

Other officers raced over and helped apprehend Sanchez, who lives in The Bronx, PAPD officials said. He was awaiting araignment on assault and obstructing government administration charges Tuesday morning, police said.

Sanchez had an open warrant for reckless driving in The Bronx

Inside the minivan, officers saw the 6-year-old in the back seat without a car seat, for which Sanchez was given a ticket, the PAPD said.

Rios was treated and released from Forest Hills Hospital, police said.
