So when DNAinfo first reported the owners' plan to reopen in Greenwich Village this fall, customers quickly shared their excitement on social media.
“I’m not gonna lie,” wrote Andrea Vasilescu on Pommes Frites’ Facebook page, “I just almost started crying tears of joy.”

But not everyone was overjoyed. Community Board 3 member Chad Marlow, who lives in the neighborhood, tweeted he was sad to see the longtime East Village staple move west to Greenwich Village, near Washington Square Park.
