MANHATTAN — The man who killed Columbia University's financial director in a hit-and-run accident over the winter was charged Tuesday, the Bronx District Attorney's Office said.

Michael Longo, 58, was driving a Dodge Magnum when he slammed into 38-year-old Daniel Cabrera while he was walking at the intersection of 225th Street and Broadway in Marble Hill after work on Feb. 23, according to officials.

Longo fled the scene and Cabrera was rushed to The Allen Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators later found the Dodge, which was not registered to Longo, in upper Manhattan.

Police did not say how they connected Longo to the hit-and-run vehicle.

Longo, who lived on Payson Avenue in Inwood, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a felony.

He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Bronx Supreme Court Tuesday and was held on $25,000 bail.

Longo faces up to seven years in jail. He is due back in court on Aug. 25.

Marble Hill, which is located in The Bronx, is considered part of Manhattan, but falls under the Bronx District Attorney's jurisdiction.
