
EAST NEW YORK — A man was killed and two others injured after their car struck a pole on the Belt Parkway early Monday, according to the NYPD.
Police said the driver was heading westbound in a Nissan Maxima on the Belt Parkway with two passengers just after 1 a.m. when he tried to take the exit for Erskine Street. He lost control of the car, striking a sign pole, police said.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. A 27-year-old man who was in the backseat was taken to Brookdale Hospital with head trauma and was in critical condition.
A 19-year-old woman in the front passenger seat was also taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition with leg and hip injuries, police said.
