All weekend
Where: 165 Banker St., Greenpoint
It's the Brooklyn Night Bazaar's last weekend in Greenpoint this Friday and Saturday. The "adult Chuck E Cheese" with booze, food, live music and shopping is leaving its Banker Street space after BMW signed a lease there. Priest headlines Friday, and Perfect Pussy headlines Saturday — and everyone should be in a "last hurrah" kind of mood. Doors open at 7 p.m.
► Arts to End Violence Exhibition
Where: Ron Taylor Gallery, 1160 St. Johns Pl., Crown Heights
Artwork curated by the anti-violence group Crown Heights Mediation Center is on display this weekend through June 5 at the Ron Taylor Gallery. The multi-medium exhibition includes artwork made by locals in Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant on the theme of "peace, community and nonviolence," organizers said. It is free and open to the public.
Friday, May 22
Where: 1067 Pacific St., Crown Heights
Steal dollar bills from strangers at this pickpocket party, an interactive show hosted by Crown Heights art group 1067 PacificPeople. Artists will demonstrate sleight of hand before urging audience members to try to take cash from each other’s pockets. The event ends in a dance party with tunes from a live DJ. Get tickets in advance for $15. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 23
Where: 106 Court St., Brooklyn Heights
The Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition will be bringing its adoption van around to Court Street near Schermerhorn Street. "Kitten Palooza" might be your chance to meet your new furry "best friend" or just hang out with some adorable felines. The van will be out in front of Regal Theaters from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Herbert Von King Park, Bedford-Stuyvesant
Put on your boxing gloves for free training at Von King Park as Councilmember Robert Cornegy’s office honors the New Bed-Stuy Boxing Center. The event pays tribute to the neighborhood’s own boxing great, Olympic champion Mark Breland, along with other local athletes. Free food, community resources and youth training is offered from noon until 6 p.m.
Sunday, May 24
Where: Do or Dine backyard, 1108 Bedford Ave., Bedford-Stuyvesant
Celebrate Memorial Day weekend and the imminent arrival of summer with this “beats-meets-bites” backyard dance party. Tickets start at $15 and doors open at 2 p.m.
Where: Silent Barn, 603 Bushwick Ave., Bushwick
Looking to stock up on cat-paraphernalia? Silent Barn will have tons of cat-themed jewelry, clothes, zines and more for sale at their bi-annual Meow Day celebration from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A DJ Cat Bus will be spinning, and there will be cats up for adoption, too. It's free to attend, and it benefits the non-profit, A Tale of Two Kitties.
