The Great Big Bacon Picnic

Where: Old Pfizer Factory Building, 630 Flushing Ave., Williamsburg

Bacon's the word at this picnic. The event gathers more than 100 chefs, mixologists and restaurants together — all bringing their best bacon game. Bacon snacks, bacon drinks and bacon desserts will all be available to try. Tickets cost $99 and include unlimited food and drink. Sessions are from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Roller Disco in Prospect Park

Where: Lakeside Skating Center, Prospect Park

The LeFrak skating center in Prospect Park will once again host its "Dreamland Roller Disco" for a 21-and-over crowd this summer, starting with a "Flashdance"-themed party hosted by Coney Island's own Lola Star. The Friday night roller discos, which go from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., will continue throughout the summer until Oct. 9.

Late Night Basement with Chris Rose

Where: Pine Box Rock Shop, 12 Grattan St., East Williamsburg

This monthly free comedy show with 2-for-1 beer specials regularly features some of the city's best comedians, and this month's no different. Sue Smith, who's been named one of New York's Ten Funniest Women by Time Out New York, and Joe Pera, who's been named a comedian under 30 to watch by Complex Magazine, will both be doing a set. Plus: Actress Lake Bell will also be at Friday's show.

Youth Opportunity Summit

Where: John Jay Educational Campus, 237 Seventh Ave., Park Slope

Young people ages 16 to 24 are invited to this free event to learn about jobs, get help with resumes and network with representatives from more than a dozen local organizations, including the Prospect Park Alliance, New York Methodist Hospital and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office. The event goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Kolache Eating Contest

Where: Brooklyn Kolache Co., 520 Dekalb Ave., Bed-Stuy

Get crowned "Kolache King" or "Queen" this weekend at Brookyn Kolache Co.'s pastry eating contest. Competitors have 10 minutes to scarf down as many of the Texas-style Czech treats as they can to win a $50 gift card to the café and more. The business also celebrates its three-year anniversary on Saturday with live music and art. Starts at 4:30 p.m.

DanceAfrica 2015 Opening

Where: Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy

This festival dedicated to African dance celebrates its 38th year with new performances, art, film, and community events. Opening day kicks off with a show by students from the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration and a special tribute to artistic director Chuck Davis, who retires from the DanceAfrica program this year. The free event begins at 10 a.m., and the tribute to Davis starts at 1 p.m.

Sunday, May 17

Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair

Where: Fifth Avenue from Sterling Place to 12th Street, Park Slope

The Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District's annual street fair promises to be something more than "socks and sausage," with more than 200 local merchants participating. Neighborhood restaurants will serve their food at outdoor tables, and there will be performances by Brooklyn Music Factory and The Urban Children's Choir. The event is rain or shine and goes from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Park Slope House Tour

Where: Various locations in Park Slope

Get a taste of what it's like to live in a beautifully restored Victorian brownstone on the Park Slope house tour, a self-guided tour where the public can peek inside some of Park Slope's historic houses. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour, and the event goes from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
