JACKSON HEIGHTS — A man was shot in the shoulder during an attempted robbery on Roosevelt Avenue early Monday morning, police said

The 29-year-old man was approached by two male suspects at 3:45 a.m. on the corner of 90th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, according to police.

He was shot in the shoulder and the two suspects fled, police said.

The victim was brought to Flushing Medical Center in stable condition.

It's not clear where the suspects ran. Police closed 90th Street between 37th and Roosevelt avenues to vehicular traffic and said the block was a crime scene.

The block has a violent history. In 2013, 33-year-old Ivan Rodriguez was shot in the neck and head near 90th Street on Sept. 20 in an apparent fight over gang turf. Police arrested Pedro Silva for the murder a week later.

A few days later Ever Orozco, 69, was stabbed to death in an apparent anti-gay attack near the 90th Street subway station after dropping his wife off at the doctor.

And last December, dad Steve Shimabuku, 25, was stabbed to death on the corner of 90th Street and 37th Avenue as he walked near his home to get a haircut.

Police arrested William Avila for the fatal shooting in March.

Just days another man was shot on the same corner, but his injuries were not fatal.
