Opening Weekend for Outdoor Smorgasburg

Where: East River State Park in Williamsburg, and Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO

Foodie festival Smorgasburg is back outdoors this weekend with new options like artisanal beer-battered cheese curds and a tasting menu from Mas Farmhouse chef Jonathan Kava. Soak in the spring with a taste of the next big thing in Brooklyn's foodie world, open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

'Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks'

Where: 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights

Brooklyn Museum's latest exhibit, which features eight of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat's notebooks, written in the 1980s and filled with never-before-seen sketches, texts and paintings, opens Friday. The exhibit is on display through Aug. 23 and is free with museum admission.

Cream Puffs, Eclairs and Churros Class

Learn how to make your own pastries with the fluffy, flaky dough used in cream puffs, eclairs and churros at this Brooklyn Kitchen class. For $75, you'll learn how to make the dough and the fillings. The class begins at 2 p.m.

Crown Heights Independent Music Extravaganza

Where: 1332 Atlantic Ave., Crown Heights

Six local bands will play at this musical showcase at a former car repair shop in Crown Heights, the Kymberle Project, on Atlantic Avenue. As the music plays, attendees are invited to paint on the walls with paper and supplies from the artistic group Indigo Artist Collective.
