BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Move over Ariel.

Mermaid Swim School is headed to Brooklyn this spring — but leave your swimsuits at home because participants will be learning to brave the St. Francis College pool waters fully clad in mermaid attire.

The school runs from April 6-10 for kids ages 8 to 12 and provides the students with neoprene mermaid tails that come in colors like "liquid sun," "sparkle pink" and "fire coral red."

The "monofin" helps kids learn to use their whole body while underwater, camp director Elena Nannoshi, said. Boys and girls are both welcome to register for classes.

"This camp teaches kids to look at swimming in a whole different light," she said. "It is more of an art form than a sport."

Classes are taught by Estonian national swim champion and model Merle Liivand.

Nannoshi said the colorful tails get kids excited to jump in the water and make them feel graceful and coordinated. Kids also get to learn signature mermaid moves like "mermaid surfacing" that Nannoshi describes as a "plunge out of the water, slight roll, and total lift of the tail before re-submerging."

They also get versed in dolphin kicks, controlling body movement and breathing, swimming under water, vertical dives, backward and forward somersaults and swimming underwater with music.

There will also be a "Mermaid Makeover" that includes a photo shoot for the kids in and near the water by a professional photographer

The Mermaid Swim School is headquartered in Michigan but is taking the show on the road this year and will be stopping in Brooklyn for the first time, along with multiple other locations like the Florida Keys, where kids will get to be mermaids in the "open water."

Classes cost $290 with a $95 discount for kids who can bring their own mermaid tail.

The course runs April 6-10 at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen St., from 5-6 p.m.
