
UPPER WEST SIDE — A man was arrested for trying to swipe 38 T-shirts from a Gap store near Lincoln Center earlier this month, police said.
The thief, 44, whose name police did not release, was seen by employees stuffing the shirts into his jacket and leaving the store at 1988 Broadway without paying on March 11 at about 10 p.m., police said.
An employee then called police and the man was arrested near the store shortly after, police said.
The T-shirts were valued at $1,138, police added. A manager at the store declined to comment.

► A purse with credit cards and $250 in cash belonging to a 20-year-old woman was stolen from an unlocked cubby in the lobby of Pure Yoga West on West 77th Street near Amsterdam Avenue, police said.
The victim told police that the theft, which occurred on March 15 about 11:30 a.m., happened while she was taking a yoga class in another room.
The studio did not immediately respond to request for comment.
► A 27-year-old teacher at a school within the Brandeis High School complex on West 84th Street left her wallet in her classroom and reported it missing the next day, March 4, police said.
The wallet contained her driver's license and credit cards, but no fraudulent charges were made on the cards, the NYPD said. Police could not say at which of the four high schools located within the complex the theft occurred.
