MANHATTAN — An MTA bus driver's face and arm were burned when a shouting woman hurled coffee at him on a Flatiron street on St. Patrick's Day, police said.
The driver of the westbound M23 was on West 23rd Street about 11 a.m. when he reached Broadway and a woman started kicking the bus, cursing loudly and trying to get inside, an NYPD spokesman said.
The 45-year-old driver, whose name was not released, opened the door only to have the woman fling her scalding brew in his face, police said.
The woman, who can be seen in surveillance photos released by police, fled the scene and had not been arrested as of Tuesday morning, officials said.
The driver was treated for burns to his face and arm at an area hospital, police said.
The woman is in her mid 20s and had long hair, police said.
An MTA spokeswoman declined to provide further information.
