LAGUARDIA — A man armed with a hatchet, a folding knife and metal brass knuckles in his carry-on luggage was arrested on Thursday morning at LaGuardia Airport, Port Authority police said.
Screening officers detected the weapons inside Robert Ballard’s black bag as it was going through a checkpoint X-ray machine, officials said.
Ballard, 24, who lives in Kips Bay, was on an American Airline flight to Miami and his carry-on bag was his only piece of luggage, a Port Authority spokesman said.
He was arrested inside Terminal B and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Information regarding Ballard's lawyer was not immediately available.
