MIDTOWN — A crotchety crocheter and a fed-up straphanger nearly came to blows on a Manhattan subway over an empty seat, according to a YouTube video posted on Sunday.

The tense standoff happened aboard an N train when a seated woman refused to budge after another rider tried to sit beside her, the video shows.

Instead of scooting over, the seated rider, with yarn in hand, turns irate — at one point challenging her fellow passenger to a fight.

“Don’t put your butt on my hand,” she shouts. “I’m gonna tell you right now, you’re gonna wait, you’re gonna wait.”

When the standing woman replies, “You are asking for trouble,” the crocheter rips into her, yelling, “Step out of my face. Have some pride and stop asking to sit down and move away from me!”

As she exits the train at Times Square, she adds, “You want to start a fight, you know where to meet me.”

The incident comes just weeks after the MTA launched a new campaign about subway etiquette, cautioning riders not to take up more than one seat.

“Be a space saver,” one ad reads. “The less space your things take up, the more room for everyone.”
