QUEENS — A man was critically injured when an SUV hit him in Elmhurst Wednesday morning, officials said.
The man, who police believe is in his 40s but whose identity was not immediately released, was crossing the street at Queens Boulevard and 51st Avenue about 7:50 a.m., when a Toyota SUV hit him, FDNY and NYPD spokesmen said.
He suffered severe head trauma and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
The SUV's driver stayed at the scene afterwards and was not immediately arrested, police said.
Their investigation is ongoing.
