BROOKLYN — Three mentally ill people, including a man without any shoes and a woman who may need medical help, were missing Monday afternoon as temperatures remained below freezing and a wind chill made it feel even colder, officials said.

Janet Markoe, who is 79 and suffers from schizophrenia, was last seen leaving her Flatbush apartment on Feb. 9 about 10:30 a.m. wearing a black waist jacket and matching pants, police said.

She is about 5 feet 4 inches, 130 pounds, and has white hair and green eyes, police said.

Four days later, Phillip Arabadjis, a 63-year-old Ditmars resident, who also has schizophrenia, wasn't wearing any shoes when he was last seen on Friday about 8 p.m., NYPD officials said.

He is about 5 feet 11 inches, 290 pounds, with gray and brown hair, police said. He was last seen wearing a blue dress shirt with black sweatpants, police said.

And then Sunday, Thi Chau, a 69-year-old woman with dementia who may need medical attention, boarded a New York-bound train out of Smithtown in Suffolk County and has been missing since, officials said.

Chau, who speaks Chinese and limited English, is about 5 feet 2 inches, 137 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, officials said.

She was last seen wearing a dark North Face jacket, black jeans with white sneakers, officials said.

All three people were still considered missing as of Monday afternoon. Temperatures in the early hours were about 4 degrees, but were expected to reach a high of about 19 degrees, a National Weather Service spokesman said.

Cold temperatures were likely to stay throughout the week with highs hovering about 19 degrees, he said.

Anyone with information about the missing people should call 911.
