THE BRONX — A trio of gun-toting thieves pushed their way into an elderly woman's Prospect Avenue apartment and tied her up with duct tape only to make off with a measly $5, police said.

One suspect, who wore a gray hoodie, knocked on the 83-year-old woman's door about 10:20 a.m. on Dec. 11 and said he had a package for her, but when she opened the door a man and a woman pushed their way in, according to the NYPD.

The robbers, one of whom had a gun, wrapped the woman in duct tape, police said.

They managed to snatch $5 before fleeing, police said.

The woman was freed a short while later, an NYPD spokesman said. It was not clear how she was freed. She was not injured.

Investigators released photos of the suspects as they walked through the building.

The man who initially knocked on the woman's door wore a dark cap, gray pants with a dark strap down the thigh and dark shoes, photos show.

The other two wore dark hoodies over caps and dark pants, photos show.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
