RED HOOK — Rosie Perez is “proud and loud” in her support for Brooklyn.

The actress recently backed the bid for the borough to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention with a video shot on Louis Valentino Jr. Pier in Red Hook.

The short promotional video features stunning views of the Statue of Liberty, ships and barges sailing on the water and the neighborhood’s notable “Red Hook” block sign.

In the video, Perez, who was born in Bushwick in 1964, recalled visiting the pier as a teenager and the emotions she felt seeing Lady Liberty in the distance.

“When I saw the Statue of Liberty… I just felt all that America has promised,” she said in the video. “I back the bid because Brooklyn’s story is America’s story.”

Perez’s first big break came through her part in Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” a 1989 film set in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

"Rosie Perez is a celebrated and iconic Brooklynite, and we’re proud to count her among the thousands of New Yorkers who support our bid to host the 2016 National Democratic Convention," said Marti Adams, a spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio.

De Blasio officially entered a bid for Brooklyn to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention last year with the Barclays Center serving as the “principal venue.”

Last November, New York City was chosen as a finalist to host the convention along with Columbus, Ohio and Philadelphia. The Democratic National Committee is expected to announce the location by next month, according to the New York Times.

Perez wasn’t the only celebrity recruited in the city’s push to put New York in the spotlight.

Actress Cynthia Nixon highlighted the city’s diversity and Josh Tower, from the cast of "Motown: The Musical," summed up New York’s theatrical prowess with “we know how to put on a show.”
