CROWN HEIGHTS — A teenager and a deli worker were injured by gunfire in two separate shootings 24 hours apart in Crown Heights this weekend, police said Monday.

The first shooting took place Saturday night inside a playground near the Kingsborough Houses, officials said. At about 10:15 p.m., an 18-year-old was shot once in the abdomen as he walked inside the recreation area at Bergen Street and Kingsborough 1st Walk, police said.

The teen was treated at Brookdale Hospital and is expected to survive. As of Monday afternoon, officials said no suspect had been identified in the shooting.

Three blocks away at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, police said a masked gunman shot a bodega worker in the leg with a pellet gun at Pacific Grocery & Deli at Pacific Street and Troy Avenue. The shooting came after the clerk refused to hand over cash from the register, officials said.

The 36-year-old victim suffered minor wounds to the leg, police said. The assailant had not been apprehended as of Monday.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
