NEW YORK CITY — Now that Sony has decided to allow theaters to screen "The Interview," several small, independent New York City venues will screen the raunchy comedy on Christmas Day.
Sony initially canceled its national movie release after several major theater chains backed out of screening "The Interview” when they received online threats of violence if they showed it.
On Wednesday, Sony released the film for rental on a variety of digital platforms.
The film portrays Seth Rogen and James Franco as a pair of journalists who travel to North Korea to interview dictator Kim Jon-Un, and are tasked by the CIA to assassinate him.
