WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The Uptown Arts Stroll is still six months away, but the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance is already working on its look for 2015.

The organization that oversees the monthlong event recently put out a call for submissions for its annual poster contest. The winner’s work will be featured on all promotional materials related to the Stroll.

In addition to incorporating elements of Uptown’s arts and culture scene, NoMAA wants the winning artist to focus on the theme of transportation by answering the question, “How do we get Uptown?”

All contestants must be residents of West Harlem, Washington Heights or Inwood. The winner will receive a $500 prize.

Previous winners include cartoonist Felipe Galindo, who created a poster featuring dancing birds, smiling musical instruments and Uptown landmarks such as the Little Red Lighthouse; and graphic designer Andrew Short, whose colorful design stood apart from the others.

A panel of judges from the local arts community will select the finalists this spring.

All entries must be submitted to NoMAA by 5 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2015.
