LONG ISLAND CITY — A mugger tried to rob a man at a Queens ATM Monday morning, bashing the victim in the head with a brick in a pink stocking when he refused to hand over the cash, police said.

According to the NYPD, the suspect approached the 32-year-old victim inside the Citibank vestibule at 1 Court Square as the man was withdrawing money at about 4:15 a.m.

When the victim refused to hand over his cash, the suspect struck him in the head with a pink stocking that contained a brick, police said. The suspect then fled. The victim refused medical attention, according to the NYPD.

Police described the suspect as a man around 5-foot-8, weighing 230 pounds, wearing a black hat and black jacket.
