PRINCE'S BAY — A 15-year-old girl was struck and killed by a truck while she was crossing a Staten Island street on Saturday, police said.

Jenna Daniels, of Prince's Bay, was crossing Bayview Avenue around 2:39 p.m. when a black Ford F-150 made a left turn from Hylan Boulevard and struck her, police said.

Police found Daniels unconscious on the street with severe head trauma and she was taken to Staten Island University Hospital South where she was pronounced dead.

The 38-year-old driver remained on the scene, police said.

Daniels was a sophomore at New Dorp High School's Law Institute and a junior varsity cheerleader, according to a letter sent out by the principal over the weekend. The school said grief counselors would be available on Monday.

Friends also created a website to raise money to donate to her family, which raised $60 as of Monday afternoon.

Police said no arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
