BROOKLYN — Two NYPD officers caught on surveillance tape bashing a 16-year-old marijuana suspect in the face with a gun were indicted on assault charges Tuesday, sources and a lawyer for the teen said.
Brooklyn Officer David Afanador, who is seen on tape punching Kahreem Tribble in the face with a gun on Aug. 29, faces a charge of felony assault and official misconduct, a misdeamonor, sources said.
Officer Tyrane Isaac, who also chased after the teen and punched him, was hit with misdemeanor assault and official misconduct, sources said.
The video shows Isaac throwing a punch at Tribble after he stopped running. The teen then raised his arms and Afanador appeared to hit him in the face with his gun.

The story was first reported by DNAinfo New York.
Tribble, who suffered cracked teeth and bruises, was charged with having 17 small bags of marijuana and disorderly conduct. He pleaded guilty after being arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau and Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office investigated the two officers, who both worked in the 79th Precinct in Bed-Stuy.
Tribble’s lawyer, Amy Rameau, told DNAinfo New York she was pleased.
She added that all the charges against the teen were eventually dismissed, but that he has been “traumatized” by the event.
“He’s not doing well. The kid has been victimized,” Rameau said. “He’s not the same kid. He’s been completely traumatized by what happened to him.”
