CORONA — Residents will have the chance to vote on how to spend $1 million in their neighborhoods this fall.

City Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras is bringing the participatory budget program to the 21st district, which includes Corona, East Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and LeFrak City.

The program allows those living in the district to propose and then vote on projects paid for with some of Ferreras' discretionary budget.

Residents can suggest their ideas at upcoming "neighborhood assemblies."

The first idea session will be held Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Elmcor, 98-19 Astoria Blvd., East Elmhurst.

On Oct. 1, a meeting will be held at Transfiguration of Christ Greek Orthodox Church at 38-05 98th St. in Corona, and another session will be held on Oct. 2 at Sherwood Village Community Room, 55-25 98th Place, Corona.

All sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. with translation in Spanish, according to Ferreras' office.
