QUEENS — A woman was fatally struck by a Q47 bus in East Elmhurst Wednesday night just four blocks from her front door, police said.

Melania Ward, 55, was walking north on 80th Street about 10 p.m. when the bus, heading in the same direction, turned east onto Astoria Boulevard and hit her, according to the NYPD.

Ward, who lived nearby on 76th Street, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The driver, whose name was not released, remained on scene, according to the NYPD.

Investigators did not immediately suspect any criminality was involved, a police spokesman said.
