BUSHWICK —  Thanks to a surge in cash from the city, two Bushwick libraries are set to stay open on Saturdays — along with several other branches around the borough.

Starting Oct. 4, the Washington Irving location of the Brooklyn Public Library, at 360 Irving Ave., will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular weekday hours will remain the same.

And the Bushwick Library at 340 Bushwick Ave. will add Saturday service from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. next month as well, though Monday hours will be ending.

The addition of Saturday service comes as the Brooklyn Public Library received $2.8 million in new funding from the city.

In addition to at least seven more branches adding Saturday hours for the first time, several libraries will also be extending evening hours. With the expansion, branches will be adding more than 200 extra hours a week in all.

Eventually, the library system hopes to keep branches open seven days a week, according to a statement from the Brooklyn Public Library.

In addition to Bushwick Library and Washington Irving Library, these branches will also see expanded Saturday hours starting in October:

► Brower Park, 725 St. Marks Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

► Business and Career Library, 280 Cadman Plaza, Saturday hours will be extended from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

► Canarsie Library, 1580 Rockaway Parkway, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

► Coney Island, 1901 Mermaid Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

► Red Hook Library, 7 Wolcott St. at Dwight Street, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

► Rugby Library, 1000 Utica Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
