RED HOOK — A designer bag worth close to $2,000 and hundreds of dollars in cash were stolen from a BMW parked in Red Hook’s Fairway Market this month, police said.
A 39-year-old woman parked her 2013 black BMW in the grocery store’s lot near Conover and Reed streets on Aug. 2 between 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., according to police.
When she returned to the car, a rear window was smashed and a $1,975 Louis Vuitton messenger bag and about $200 in cash were missing, police said.
Other notable crimes in the 76th Precinct include:
► A $1,000 Diamondback bicycle was stolen from a building on Hicks Street on Aug. 8. The thief broke in through the building’s front door between 5:10 a.m. and 5:23 a.m. and took an elevator to the underground garage, where the bicycle was stored. No arrests have been made as yet.
► A set of 40 keys, a $150 iPhone, 10 blank checks and miscellaneous cards were stolen after a woman left her bag on a Union Street stoop on Aug. 11 about 5:35 p.m. The victim, a 45-year-old woman, placed her bag on the stairs and went into the building. When she returned two minutes later, the bag and her valuables were missing.
