JACKSON HEIGHTS — A man tried to rape a woman after following her into her apartment building, but the victim fought him off, police said.

The suspect, caught on surveillance tape, followed the victim into her building near Roosevelt Avenue at around 5 a.m. on June 6, police said.

He threw her to the ground and tried to rape her, police said, but the victim fought him off.

Another tenant in the building came out after hearing the struggle and the suspect fled, police said.

The suspect is described as a male in his 20s, approximately 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a short sleeve button-down shirt and shorts.
