QUEENS — Greet a gecko and smile at a snake this weekend at the new Forest Hills location of Petco.

The new store, at 91-11 Metropolitan Ave., is hosting a pet adoption event and "reptile rally" this Saturday for kids to learn more about reptiles. It's the chain’s third location in Queens, with other stores in the borough located in College Point and Howard Beach.

During the "reptile rally," which will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., children can learn how to take care of reptiles like the ones Petco offers, including snakes, bearded dragons, turtles and leopard geckos.

The Forest Hills store will also host an event on Saturday and Sunday, during which those interested in adopting an animal will be able to connect with local shelters.

Residents are also invited to bring their own pets for the store's grand opening, the company said.

The new location will offer a variety of services, including grooming and dog training. It will also host monthly educational forums for families about animals and hold additional adoption events througout the year, the company said.

The new store is located across the street from the popular shopping spot on Metropolitan Ave., near Woodhaven Blvd., which also includes a Trader Joe's, a Staples and a Michaels art store.

The chain is also planning to open a new location in Throgs Neck this weekend.
