MIDTOWN — It’s the last chance to see Bob Dylan’s paintings all in one place.
Ross Art Group Gallery, at 532 Madison Ave. near 54th Street, is featuring 50 pieces created by Bob Dylan, including a mixture of original paintings and hand-signed limited-edition prints, until Saturday only, said gallery owner Mickey Ross.
“The whole gallery is covered in Bob Dylan,” said Ross. “It’s a great way to see the complexity and variety of Bob Dylan’s talent. There’s a little bit of everything.”
The exhibit, dubbed the “Drawn Blank Series,” debuted for the first time in the U.S. at the gallery on May 8 and was originally scheduled to run until May 30, but it decided to extend it until June 14 due to popular demand, Ross said.
In addition, the gallery has just received a new set of prints to show just for the extension called “Train Tracks,” a set of four prints hand-signed by Dylan, depicting a serene view of train tracks in different colors.
“We wanted to offer New York collectors something that they wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else,” Ross said.
There are only 295 of these sets available in the world, Ross added. He declined to reveal how much the prints cost, but added that each set was sold for about £25,000, or $45,000 dollars, in London.
“The images are considered by many people as one of the most symbolic pieces of Bob Dylan and his life,” said Ross. “Bob Dylan travelled on the road for 100 days out of the year for his entire career.
“You can see in the piece that there is no true beginning or end. It’s very similar to how life is constantly evolving.”
The exhibit will be showing at the Ross Art Group gallery until Saturday, June 14. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
