BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Brooklyn Bridge Park’s bocce and shuffleboard courts are slated to open at Pier 2 this week, officials announced.

The five-acre pier, which also includes basketball and handball courts, will open to the public with an official ceremony on May 22 at 3:30 p.m. It will also boast a full roller skating rink, which park officials said would open in late June.

A protected habitat for birds and a non-motorized boating launch area at the park’s Pier 4 beach, a sandy shoreline along the East River, will also open during Thursday's event.

Pier 2’s upcoming skating rink will be enclosed and can be used for recreational skating, roller hockey and roller derby, DNAinfo New York has previously reported.

The pier will also house swings, picnic tables and a workout area with fitness equipment.

Clinics and programs on the courts will take place after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will be attended by Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and BBP Chair Alicia Glen, Regina Myer, president of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Borough President Eric Adams and other local elected officials.

Editor's Note: Based on erroneous information, a previous version of this article stated the roller skating rink would also open Thursday. We have now noted that it will in fact open in late June.
