PROSPECT HEIGHTS — The lineup for Celebrate Brooklyn’s free summer concert series in Prospect Park has been unveiled, with more than 30 performances spread over three months.
Janelle Monae will open the 36th annual series on Wednesday, June 4. Others performing at the pay-what-you-wish shows are Dum Dum Girls on June 21, Talib Kweli on July 5 and Deltron 3030 on July 19. The series wraps up on August 9 with a performance by St. Vincent and San Fermin.
The series also includes ticketed concerts to benefit BRIC, the arts organization that’s hosted the Celebrate Brooklyn series since the late '70s. Neutral Milk Hotel, Jack Johnson and The National are among those slated for benefit performances. Check BRIC’s website for information on how to buy tickets for each of those shows, as some have already gone on sale.
Each of the free shows will be held rain or shine at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Admission is a suggested $3 donation.
