UPPER WEST SIDE — A new gluten-free bakery has arrived in the neighborhood, adding to the growing collection of dessert shops making their home here.

Tatz Gourmet Sweetz opened earlier this month on Amsterdam Avenue between West 101 and 102nd streets, offering a range of confections for those with dietary restrictions.

"We don't just sell gluten-free sweets, but we also have dairy-free and vegan items as well on our menu, which are gluten-free," said owner Tatiana Budyuk.

In addition to gluten-free cupcakes, Tatz has a dairy-free banana bread and a variety of cakes, which can be custom ordered, said Budyuk.

"If you are vegan, one thing you must try are the vegan donuts, we have selection of cinnamon, chocolate or different fruit and the vegan brownies," she said.

Budyuk, who learned she was allergic to gluten while in cooking school, said she decided to make it her mission to create better tasting gluten-free sweets.

Tatz is about 10 blocks north of By The Way Bakery, a gluten-free bakery that opened this fall.
