BROOKLYN — Three children were hospitalized and a man was taken into police custody and charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday after a crash left one of the boys clinging to life, police said.

Anthony Pollydore, 65, of Laurelton, Queens, was arrested at Kings County Hospital after he totaled a car on Eastern Parkway at 8:05 a.m. while trying to slam on the brakes at a stop light, police said.

Instead of coming to a rest at the intersection of Dean Street, Pollydore caused the eastbound sedan to skid out of control and crashed into a light pole on a median strip, critically injuring his 11-year-old stepson, police said.

Two other children that were in the car, his 12-year-old stepson, and his 5-year-old son, were rushed to the hospital as well, but no visible injuries were detected, the NYPD said.

Pollydore is being charged with aggravated vehicular assault, vehicular assault, aggrivated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated, police said.
