Staten Island Man Killed in Single Car Accident in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE — A Staten Island man was killed after he crashed his SUV into a traffic light pole in Brownsville on Tuesday, police said.

Philip Crucilla, 47, of Sandlewood Drive in Great Kills, was driving on Sutter Avenue when he crashed his 2003 GMC SUV into the pole at the corner of Williams Avenue around 9:59 a.m., police said.

Emergency workers found Crucilla unconscious and unresponsive in the driver's seat of the car. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No other cars were involved in the crash and there were no other injuries. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
