JAMAICA — A man was run over and killed while attempting to cross the Van Wyck Expressway just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.
Police said they received a call reporting a man was running through traffic on the Van Wyck Expressway, between exits 4 and 5 near Jamaica. When they arrived, the man had been hit and was injured and unresponsive, police said. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to the NYPD, the victim, who was estimated to be in his 20’s, was struck by a Ford van while crossing the expressway from east to west. The 45-year-old driver of the van remained on the scene.
Police said there were no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
