THE BRONX — A man and woman miraculously survived after their car careened off the Bruckner Expressway, plunging onto the service road below Monday afternoon, witnesses said.

The accident happened about 3:12 p.m. Monday on the Bruckner Expressway near Brush Avenue in The Bronx when the vehicle hit a patch of ice and skidded off the road, witnesses and fire officials said.

Eliezer Martinez, 27, was driving a school bus when he came upon the accident. He saw a man and a woman crawl out of the smashed vehicle and stayed with them until the ambulance arrived.

"I was just scared. I wouldn't want anything to happen to them," Martinez said.

The passengers were taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the fire department.
