THE BRONX — A boy was hospitalized after being hit by a school bus in front of Santa Maria School in Westchester Village Wednesday morning.
The unidentified student was walking to the Catholic elementary school at the corner of Zerega Avenue and Glebe Street with his sister about 7:30 a.m. when he was struck by the bus, school officials said.
He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his leg. It did not appear to be serious, an FDNY spokesperson said.
His sister was not injured.
"Guidance counselors are at Santa Maria School this morning to talk with students," said a letter mailed out to parents.
"The entire Santa Maria School community will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers."
