Hit and Run Leaves Crown Heights Man Dead

BROOKLYN — A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 47-year-old Brooklyn man as he crossed the street on Friday night, and police were investigating the accident Saturday.

Vernon Sylvester Bramble, 47, who lived in Crown Heights, was crossing Flatbush Avenue near East 34th Street when he was struck around 10:29 p.m. and left for dead by the driver of an unknown southbound black vehicle, police said.

Rescuers rushed Bramble to Beth Israel Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival police said.

No arrests had been made but an investigation was ongoing, police said.
