CARROLL GARDENS — A small fire broke out in a Smith Street apartment building Monday afternoon, officials said.

Firefighters responded to a fire in 279 Smith St. at Sackett Street about 1:20 p.m. and brought the fire under control about 25 minutes later, the FDNY said.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to New York Methodist Hospital and Long Island College Hospital.

Restaurants Zaytoons and Savoia are located in neighboring buildings but were not affected by the fire, workers said.
