MURRAY HILL — A large fire engulfed part of the third floor of a 37th Street home Tuesday morning, FDNY officials said.

The blaze started on an outside area of the third floor of 140 East 37th St., near Lexington Avenue, about 3 a.m., an FDNY spokeswoman said.

Flames scorched nearby buildings as well, she added.

The 106 firefighters who responded brought the fire under control about an hour later, according to the FDNY.

Five firefighters were taken to Bellevue Hospital and treated for minor injuries, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
