MANHATTAN — A taxi and a car collided near the United Nations Thursday afternoon, sparking a scaffolding collapse and injuring four people, fire department officials said.

The crash occurred at First Avenue and East 42nd Street about 2:50 p.m., leaving the victims with serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to the FDNY.

Two of the people were rushed to Bellevue Hospital and a third was brought to New York-Presbyterian Hospital. It was not immediately known where the fourth person was taken.

There were traffic delays in the area because of the crash, the Office of Emergency Management tweeted.
