Pierhouse Condos on the Rise in Brooklyn Bridge Park

By Janet Upadhye | August 19, 2013 1:04pm

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — There's movement at the Pierhouse construction site in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Construction vehicles are currently excavating the site that will be home to luxury "townhome-style condos."

The Toll Brothers project, located at Pier 1, will have 159 one to five-bedroom units with prices ranging from $1.2 million to more than $4 million.

The project also includes restaurants, event spaces, retail, a fitness center, and a parking garage with a 200-room hotel complex next door.

Toll Brothers originally planned to break ground on the waterfront development in February, but the start was delayed so designers could add flood protections to the plans. The updated designs called for the complex to be raised three feet and mechanical systems to be placed on the roof instead of in the basement, according to the Architects Newspaper blog.

The newly opened bouncy Squibb Bridge will zig-zag around the new development, giving residents easy access to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

The hotel and residences are expected to open in the fall of 2015.
